Yemen, on the tip of the Arabian Peninsula, is as old as time. Legend says its capital city Sana'a, was established by Shem, son of Noah. Hidden away by mountains, Yemen has developed distinct ways, from its unique multi-stofied architecture to its traditionally daggered men. Visit extraordinary ancient and medieval cities such as Thula, Amran, Al Rahara, Jibla. Travel to the former South Yemen, open only to tourism since 1990, to Shibam, the Manhattan of the desert' and now a World Heritage site. Cross the infamous "Empty Quarter" of the Rhub Al Khali Desert to Marib, seat of the Sheba Kingdom. Visit colorful markets, ancient palaces perched on rocks, peaceful valleys, coastal ports. Journeying overland in your private 4WD vehicles, from Northern Yemen into the former South Yemen, you will see that this age-old center of civilization preserves a way of life that has changed little since the Middle Ages.

ETHIOPIA AND YEMEN "This is just a note to say "thanks". The trip was wonderful! Ethiopia was a mysterious, inspirational country. it was one of those places where the more you see, the more you know remains to be seen. I particularly liked my guide, Yemealem. Besides being knowledgeable in the ways that guides are supposed to be knowledgeable, he had honor and integrity and a caring attitude that went deeper than the demands of the job required. He is a good ambassador for his country. As for Yemen, this is one of those countries where I could return and do exactly the same things a second time, and enjoy it even more. The culture is fascinating, the architecture is striking and the landscape is spectacular. My driver and guide were wonderful. I've had scores of good drivers and guides over the years, but I'll remember these two as among my favorites.
