Questions we get asked

Will we actually see turtles?

The reserve has resident green and hawksbill turtles and most trips see them. But these are wild animals, and we will never chase one or promise what nature can't deliver.

I've never snorkeled. Can I still come?

Yes. Beginners and families are welcome: gear is fitted at check-in, life jackets are provided, and a guide is in the water with you at every stop.

Can children come?

Yes. There's no minimum age, and the child rate is OMR 17. Life jackets are provided for everyone.

What's the boat like?

A custom-built 36-foot boat with shade and a toilet, licensed for up to 20 guests.

When can we see whale sharks?

They pass through Omani waters roughly July to October, with late summer the peak. Outside those months, turtles snorkel year-round.

About the turtles: an honest note

Green and hawksbill turtles live around the Daymaniyat year-round, and most snorkeling trips see them, often up close. But they're wild animals in a protected reserve: we don't chase, touch, feed or corner them, and we can't script an encounter. What we can promise is a crew that knows the sites where turtles actually are, and the patience to let the ocean do its thing.

What to bring

  • Swimwear (wear it under your clothes)
  • Towel, hat and sunglasses
  • Reef-safe sunscreen (the reserve's coral will thank you)
  • A dry bag for phones and cameras
  • Seasickness tablet an hour before, if you're prone

We provide all snorkeling gear, life jackets (adult and child sizes), drinking water and snacks.
